It's Tablescape Thursday once again! That day of the week that Susan of "Between Naps On The Porch" invites us all to join her with playing with our dishes!
Since June is considered THE wedding month, I'm sure that many of you have an anniversary this month. So this table is set just for you! (I'm not a June bride myself - so maybe I'll re-create this in November for our anniversary). I've always felt that swans were romantic as they glide across the water ... so this is a picture approaching our swan anniversary table.
As we get a little closer, we see that this table is set just for two. I thought about using my good china, but the white of the swans seemed better suited to my white dishes. Don't you agree?
A close up of the vintage swan tablecloth layered over my white tablecloth. This is such a pretty shade of soothing green. On the four corners are appliqued "cattails". My guess would be that this little tablecloth is from the 50's or early 60's - as I do remember swans being somewhat popular during that period.
Toward the center of the tablecloth we have four pairs of swans - aren't they pretty?
I've added a wine glass to the etched glasses that were from my husband's grandmother. They're so beautiful and I'm so happy to be using them.
There were only two small napkins with this vintage tablecloth - and because they're so small I layered them with a larger white cloth napkin.
I decided that two of my small swan vases would make great containers for the silverware. I couldn't decide if they should go handle up or down. What do you think? I do like the monogram on the handles -- so I decided this way. I also could have completely rolled them in the napkin and placed them inside as well. It's fun to try something a little different every now and then.
a small etched bowl will be perfect to start out with shrimp cocktails. Then we have my white on white salad and dinner/charger plates.
Here's a view from the second tablesetting.
A close-up of the centerpiece swan filled with "faux" flowers and two smaller vases that I'm using for candleholders.
Since this is an anniversary table -- of course the theme is "Love"! Actually love really doesn't need a special time to celebrate. This could be a romantic dinner "just because".
Here's our pretty swan full of flowers and I see a bee has joined the table. "Faux" of course! (what else for faux flowers?)
See how pretty she is all "dressed up" with her hand painted flowers? I don't know why, but for some strange reason I've come up with an attraction for swans this year. They've certainly been easy to find in thrift stores and even Goodwill. I'm glad that they found a home on my anniversary table, but I don't think I'll be starting a large collection. I'll just enjoy these.
A bottle of wine is ready for toasting our anniversary couple.
What could be more romantic than swans by candlelight?

An overview of the centerpiece.
One last look at our anniversary table - ready to celebrate love and memories of a special day.

We just had our 25th Anniversary and this would have been the perfect table. It is simply stunning. I LOVE all the swans. They are so pretty. Putting the napkin and silverware in the little swan vase is so clever and pretty. YOur Swan centerpiece is such a gorgeous piece. Just a perfect table. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOoooh! I especially like the look once the candles were lit and the lights dimmed. So romantic.
ReplyDeleteOh, Martha! Your table looks gorgeous! Now you know how I'm loving that olden tablecloth. It looks applicaed! I've never seen anything like it! You do have a beautiful collection of swans. I love how you've used the swan vases to hold the silverware! Oh, the centerpiece is outstanding! What a beautiful hand painted swan.
ReplyDeleteI wanted you to know, I'm using the pretty little napkins you gave me again today! I just love them.

I love the swan theme, very appropriate for June romance!
ReplyDeleteYour table looks beautiful! I am busy planning my daughter and son-in-law's 1st Anniversary party on the 20th of June -- thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a pretty tablescape. I really love the way you put silverware into the swan vases. (I think they should be the way you have them-it probably is not good to grab the end of the flatware that will touch your food), and I think the flared napkin goes so much better with this romantic theme than a rolled one would. That tablecloth is perfect, and the candlelight view of your table just looked so romantic. laurie
ReplyDeleteSuch a romantic and lovely tablescape! I love the swans, too sweet! The candlelight view was lovely, warm, and special.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
Tina
Soooo pretty and romantic! I love it!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful romantic swan tablesetting. The vintage tablecloth is a treasure and the etched stemware is beautiful. It looks like it may be Depression Glass? It makes for a gorgeous tablesetting and I love the color scheme.

What a beautiful and romantic table. I loved your theme and how you put the silverware in the swans! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe swan theme table is so romantic. I love the swan napkin/flatware holder. I have been looking for the little etched bowls to serve my chilled peach soup. I can only find two and I would want to get at least 4. The etched goblets are exquisite. Thanks for sharing. Happy TT.
ReplyDeleteMy friend this is one of my favorites that you have done so far. I will e-mail in a week or so; if I take my laptop maybe sooner.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and I'll e-mail soon. Thank you

ReplyDeleteBeing a June bride myself, I want thank you for the lovely table! In fact, we even had a swan ice sculpture at the reception, so your theme worked perfectly. Thank you for stopping by my blog. Come back anytime.
ReplyDeleteHi Martha,
ReplyDeleteYour table setting in candle light is gorgeous! Loved this...so pretty.
Nice to meet you through Tablescape Thursday. This is so much fun.
I really like seeing the ideas that are shared.
Thank you for visiting my very first TT!
Hope you'll come again.
Blessings to you,
~Deanna~
How pretty, Martha! Love the swans!
ReplyDeletePlease join in my Let There Be White table event on the 23rd..White tablesettings, flowers, food..anything to do with tables and what you put on it!
Your swans are beautiful and with the candles lit it is enchanting! How very romantic.
ReplyDeleteI do purchase my Fiesta dishes in individual place settings so I can mix and match. It's kind of funny that each family member has adopted a favorite color and can become quite territorial if someone uses "theirs". I love them.
Blessings,
Alicia
Oh what a lovely tablescape, especially when the candles are lit and everything just sparkles! I love your husbands grandmothers crystal, it is so beautiful. The etched glass is so elegant. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful table with so many lovely ideas!
