Tablescape Thursday - Welcome Molly

I LOVE Tablescape Thursday! It seems like I "lurked" through TT (When it was Tablescape Tuesday) for months and it's what inspired me to start my own blog. Once I got my nerve up, I decided to take the plunge and participate and now there's no looking back! Thank you Susan, for providing us all so much fun each week - whether we're "just browsing" or we're full on participating. This week's tablescape is all about honoring our four granddaughters and in celebration of our newest "grandgirl" Molly Rose, born on June 25th. You can see that there's lot's of pinkness on this tablescape. I've prepared the table for a fancy milk and cookies celebration at Nana's house. Of course it's all in my imagination since only one of the girls is actually old enough to enjoy this at this point. Perhaps in the not too distant future this will actually be possible. Nana can't wait for the fun of four little girls together!


This is a vintage tablecloth that I showed in June layered over a white tablecloth. This time I just used this small cloth by itself. The cloth has pink roses stenciled on the border and in the center. Picked because roses are the flower for June birthdays. (and they're pink of course!)


As I was putting the centerpiece together, this was sort of reminding me of a fountain. This starts out with a glass cake stand, topped with a small footed stand (I don't know what it's really supposed to be for - it just looks like a minature cake stand and belonged to my grandmother - I never remember her using it though). On top of that small stand, I have a cut glass salt celler turned upside down. All the facets of the glass look like water in a fountain to me. This all holds four Margaret Furlong angels from my collection that I started before she stopped production (I was really sad when that happened) - one angel for each girl. I've also filled in with petite pink roses on a vine and ivy vines. These were used to decorate an arbor for our daughter's outdoor wedding four years ago this month. I "shopped" my house for everything in this weeks tablescape.



This is my smallest angel in the collection - she's about 2 1/2 inches tall. She'll be Molly Rose's angel and because we're celebrating her birth - she gets the top spot in the centerpiece. She's holding a wreath of flowers. That also reminds me of Molly's June birthday -- a month filled with flowers from the garden.


The next two angels are a bit larger than the first one - maybe about an inch -- they'll be the one's representing our twin granddaughters. This angel will be for Kendall Bailee -- she's holding shells from the seashore. We all love the beach, so I imagine these girls will as well. This also reminds me that their birthday is in August, a summer month that often finds us by the water. (or longing to be.)


The next "twin" angel representing Keelyn Elizabeth is holding a dogwood blossom - that's the state flower for Virginia -- A reminder of their birthplace.


The last angel is about an inch larger than the last two -- this one represents our oldest granddaughter Stella Grace. She's holding a cross reminding me of the baptism of all our girls and that they are all beloved children of God.


On two corners of my centerpiece are sheer pink dotted swiss bows. They remind me of little girl dresses -- my mother loved dotted swiss and I remember having several dresses made of that when I was a little girl. I also think of the big sashes tied into pretty bows on the back of pretty little dresses.


Here's a little closer look at a cookies and milk place setting.


I found six of these little plates with pink roses this past spring at an antique store. All six cost $7.50. They'll make sweet little cookie plates. The mugs were four that I purchased when I was working at a Hallmark card and gift shop. They're based on the nursery rhyme. "Monday's Child is fair of face; Tuesday's Child is full of grace; Wednesday's Child will know no woe; Thursday's Child has far to go; Friday's Child is loving and giving; Saturday's Child works hard for a living; but the Child who's born on the Sabboth Day, is bonnie and blithe, happy and gay!" I purchased a Monday (my day of birth); a Saturday (our son's day of birth) and two Sunday's (my husband and daughter's day of birth). So quite naturally all our granddaughters were born on Tuesday or Thursday!


I thought the little plate and cup got a little lost on the full sized pink placemat. So I took a white battenburg lace napkin and folded it around the placemat to bring it into better scale.


I decided that Stella Grace will be using my mug. The inner rim says "Monday's Child".

It also has a picture of an old fashioned camera. This is why I picked this mug for Stella Grace. She loves to pose for pictures and when we were in Atlanta a week ago, she was having fun taking pictures as well. Perhaps a budding photographer.

Since I had two Sunday mugs, these will be for Keelyn and Kendall. The little victorian girl is at the table with a crown on her head. What is she doing?...


...blowing out the candles of a birthday cake! The twins have a birthday coming up soon. They'll be one on August 7th. If you look in the very bottom right you'll see the little dog hoping to snag a piece of that cake!


Looks like the little victorian boy can't wait for a slice of cake either!

Connected by two little sunflowers. Certainly, I don't hope that Molly has to do hard work, but that she will love the work she does one day!
