Fall's slowly creeping into my house.
Well, I've said before -- I'm having difficulty letting go of this summer -- I don't know why - usually Fall is my most favorite season. Slowly bit by bit I'm starting to make the change of season. I've started outside.
My Summer floral mailbox has changed ...
... to Fall pumpkins.
My American flag that's been out all Summer has been changed to....
... the pretty leaves of Fall.
And my basket of wild flowers on the front door has become...
...a wreath of fall leaves and acorns.
I made the dreaded trip into the attic this afternoon to get down some fall decor -- some will be used and some will go to GoodWill -- and this week I'll make it out to the shed to get my last boxes of Autumn (hoping not to encounter any snakes) -- and slowly I'll be letting Fall inside. This year, I'll make a slow transition into the season and enjoy the arrival of Fall - just a bit at a time.
See ya!
Hi Martha! Oh, you're getting your fall on just fine! Everything looks so nice. Love your mail box cover and your door wreath! I see a tiny little fuzzy face peeking out the door! :)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
I'm "Fallin'" slowly myself this year!

Snakes!! Don't mention those buggers! I spent all of my summer recovering from a rattlesnake bite which is the reason I am slow for the fall decorating- trying to hang on to the last bit of summer which is hard as it's getting chilly here in Colorado!! Pretty door arrangement and wear tall boots when you go out to your shed- no flip flops i tell ya!!

I'm having a very hard time letting go of summer too. This is the first summer in 3 yrs we've not been under construction and I've thoroughly enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI did start organizing my fall decorations though, just none in the house yet. But you've inspired me!
I have to make that trip to the basement to get all of my Fall boxes out!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks lovely and fall chic!
I just became a follower so I can keep up with you.

I know I've been resisting it too! xoxo
ReplyDeleteSometimes change can be more difficult..it probably means that you had a good summer.
ReplyDeleteHey Girl! How are you? I have been a bad blogging friend. I just cannot get caught up. Though I have spent much of the past hour reading up on post on your blog. Getting caught up. Miss you friend!
ReplyDeleteI think the fall decor is beautiful....happy fall its official tomorrow!
Your fall wreath looks so good on your door, especially with the two cuties underneath it. They really gave me a chuckle.
ReplyDeleteHope you dont run into any snakes- yikes!
Greetings Martha~ I'm finally back from my summer long blogcation.
ReplyDeleteWell, I read until I touched bottom. :)
Your fall decor is very inspiring, especially the little furry helper taking advantage of the photo-opp. How adorable is that lil' face peeking out the door. We started preparing for the fall season that seemed fast approaching, including putting the AC's into storage...just to find we're heading into a heatwave this week!!!
Okay, lets chat about your gorgeous family. What precious cuties!! My family always jokes about my "want* for a *wee pink one* in our lives. Having sons put my home into a estrogen challenged state, so I'm very grateful for my (new)daughter in-law to help out with the balance,LOL!
I entered high school in the 70's too. That cafeteria tray reminded me of...entering the sixth grade earning the right (of passage) to work in the cafeteria, serving up the lunch trays. We also got to eat a-l-l the food we wanted, including dessert. A sixth graders dream!!
I've enjoyed catching up. Please stop by...I look forward to the return of your company.
Sweet wishes,
Sara
Everything is looking so pretty. It's wonderful what those mailbox covers can do for a mailbox. I don't have that kind of mailbox, but I think it would be so much fun to change it with the seasons. Pretty Fall flag and wreath too. I kind of hate to say good-bye to summer too, but I'm enjoying the Fall colors. laurie
ReplyDeleteI feel the same Martha, I'm in ca. and it is 95 degrees here today, to hot and summery and lovery cool evenings.....nothing like autume, Now I'm inspired and I must let it go soon...Love your blog and have now become a follower....Phyllis
