Sometimes I purposely go "treasure hunting" -- other times, I might be out and decide to just pop into Goodwill or a local thrift shop to see what's new. I found a few treasures in the last week or so on a couple of those quick trips. Last Saturday I had a bag of articles to take to Goodwill donation and decided to have a quick look.
I found this metal candleholder. It looks pretty white in this picture, but actually, it looks like someone lightly spray painted some white over black.
You can see areas of black here and there.
I can't decide if I want to take it back to black or all the way white....what do you think?
While at Goodwill, I also found four of these little leaf plates -- they're a little bigger than a butter pat. They would probably work very well for tea bags. Anybody know what they really are? Did your mother or grandmother have these?
Two plates have this same design -- the other three are a little different.
I think they're very dainty.
All have this same stamp of Japan on the back -- anybody know how old they may be? The ones at Goodwill were 45 cents each -- the one from the thrift shop was $2.
I also found these two coffee cups at a thrift shop I stopped by Saturday -- on the inside they both say "yum."
Aren't they the cutest couple?
Our little man with his bow tie.
Our winking lady -- I think these will be cute for after dinner coffee -- maybe for a special anniversary dinner - what do you think?
Hope your week is filled with small surprising treasures!
See ya!
The leaf plates are so pretty--I really can't imagine what they are used for--small dessert plates? You know everything, including china, used to be smaller than it is now!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds. That candle holder will be so pretty for the holidays. I'm with you on the beautiful little flowered plates, they probably were for tea bags. They would look really pretty on a wall too.

Martha those two cups with the eye lashes are so darn cute. You always find the nices treasures where you shop. I would first determine where I'm going to use the white candle holder and then determine what color to paint in the place where you are going to use it.
ReplyDeleteThose are great fiinds...love the little plates!
ReplyDeleteMartha, Those coffee mugs are adorable! The pretty little floral plates will be great for tea bags. That candle holder is so pretty, and I think it looks great white, but it would also look pretty painted black. For some reason, I'm thinking if you use it in your dining room, black would be gorgeous. Good luck with your decision. Can't wait to see what you do. laurie
