It's time to set the table for our first tablescape of 2011! I love to participate in this party week after week...but mostly, I love the inspirations I get from visiting so many beautiful tables set by such talented tablescapers. This has been a busy week...trying to get the Christmas decor packed away (I'm about 2/3 done)...getting back to work after two weeks off and taking on more responsibilities at our Church. So I'm afraid that I haven't been able to visit or respond as much this past week --- hopefully, I'll find the right balance with all this. All this whirlwind has made me seek calm and peace in my surroundings ...so this week I've set a table of Winter White.
Welcome to my first table of 2011. White seems a nice change after all the bright and busy colors of Christmas.
I've set a place for you.
The centerpiece is mostly white flowers surrounding one of my favorite little cherubs I found at Goodwill sometime ago.
To remind me of the blessing of each season of the year...I've placed a Margaret Furlong angel on each plate. This angel holds the holly of winter. I've always loved holly and especially enjoy using it in my Christmas and winter decorating.
Dogwood blossoms bring to mind the blessings of Spring and Easter.
Shells hold the blessings of Summer.
A simple wreath reminds me of the blessings of a welcoming door --- open to a warm hearth and home for Autumn.
I loved the look of the white angels upon our simple white everyday plates.
A layering of plates on white Irish linen placemats (antique store) and my mis-matched silverplate (eBay).
I love this little guy...if you look closely, he has a little skinned nose -- what could possibly be more dear than a cherub with a boo-boo on his little nose? Don't you just want to kiss it?
Tabletop overview.
Centerpiece overview.
I found these little hand monogrammed napkins at an antique store -- I have no idea what letter this is. E maybe?
They look pretty in my etched water goblets.
Wishing you many blessings in the new year....
....that carry through all the seasons of the year.
Filled with joy, love and someone to kiss away all your little boo-boos.
One of my new year traditions is to plant bulbs every new year's day --- for mid-Winter blooms .....paperwhites of course! I'll try to take a picture of their progress each week.
Be sure to visit Susan at "Between Naps on the Porch" every Thursday for lots of tabletop inspirations.
See ya!
Since I did use fresh cut flowers in my centerpiece...I'm also going to join Fresh Cut Friday over at Rose Vignettes -- who doesn't love fresh flowers ....always a special treat, but especially in the Winter!
Thank you sooo much for visiting and overlooking those bloopers. Your kind words made my day. Your table is absolutely wonderful. What a wonderful touch to add the angels. I also love the fresh green in the centerpiece. Good luck on your paperwhites. They are always the prettiest this time of year.

ReplyDeleteYour table is lovely. I love cherubs and have quite a few of them.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!
Your doily looks like a snowflake in the overhead view. That's a nice touch to a winter white table! The monogram? That's a tough one, isn't it? Intriguing, though... LOVE your bulb planting tradition. I'll have to remember that -- so I can copy it!
ReplyDeleteThe whites with the pop of pretty green flowers looks delightful. I love it Martha!
ReplyDeleteMartha, my sweet...so great to hear from you! Happy New Year!!! You're so right...the white is a wonderful departure from all the deep tones we've enjoyed over the last several months! Makes me feel lighter without having to exercise! :-) You found those napkins at an antique shop??!??!! They're gorgeous! It doesn't even matter what the inital is for...it reminds me of that movie "Sense & Sensibility" with Hugh Grant when she had the handkerchief with the initals EF. So cool!!! I hope you rocked the New Year's Eve thing! Great to hear from you, and thanks for stopping by my place earlier this evening! Talk to you soon! Have a wonderful week!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table, Martha. White seems to be a common theme today, but I added a little black with mine. LOL Love the monogram. No idea what letter, but it is beautifully stitched.
ReplyDeleteMartha, so sweet and angelic. Love the monograms...that needs to be on my wish list.
ReplyDeleteThere is something about white that just captures me. Enjoy your day.
