My favorite things
I'm joining Laurie over at "Bargain Hunting and Chatting with Laurie" for My Favorite Things Saturday. It's always fun to see the treasures that everyone shares.
I have two very special pictures hanging in my living room. These are two pieces of my mother's handwork. This first one she made for my grandmother for Christmas 1967.
I love the daffodil and these bees. Perfect for Spring.
This is the picture that my parents had hanging in their living room for years. I believe she made this one around the same time. Two of my favorite treasures. I've done some cross stitch and needlework myself and know the hours spent on these, and I hope that one day they'll be treasures in the home of one of my granddaughter's in years to come. I guess with four granddaughters, I need to get busy in come up with two more pictures to hand down.
Have a great weekend everyone -----see ya!
Oh, Martha..I love these. So pretty. My mother did a lot of handwork of all kinds. She left us some beautiful pieces. I know what you mean about trying to leave all the grandgirls something nice. I have 7 and I am working hard to have nice things for them. I'm not good at sewing...but I sure am good at thrifting so am hoping they will love the things I find for them.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for coming by.

ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how our mother's things become such treasures for us. They are beautiful and I can certainly see why you love them!
ReplyDeleteOh my, your Mom was talented Miss Martha. The colors are so lovely. If you haven't, take a moment and put a placard on the back telling about when your Mom made them. It sounds like they will be a family treasure for sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous pieces. I love things like that. I have my grandfathers old tater bug mandolin and a friendship quilt that was made for my mom....but my grandmother did a square in it. I love mementos like your picture.
ReplyDeleteOh Martha, they are gorgeous! I love needlework, and especially when it was made by a family member. How wonderful that you have your Mother's needlework. So many people just don't appreciate treasures like that. I'm so glad you linked these beautiful pieces to Favorite things. laurie
