Do you ever go to the thrift stores with something particular in mind? I seldom do, but I've been thinking of my Dad's upcoming birthday (April 1st) and I was hoping to find some things for tablescaping a special dinner. However, as often happens, I didn't find the exact right things for that. Instead I kept finding roses. I do have an affection for roses, since I have a June birthday. June's birth flower is the rose. My DIL's maiden name was Rose and my youngest granddaughter is Molly Rose! So roses hold very special meaning for me.
First, I found a sweet collection that consisted of six of these charming berry bowls. White roses are my daughter's favorite.
There were also four saucers.
One saucer has a pretty bad crack. I wonder if it happened on the way home, because I didn't notice it in the store. Oh well.
It's not all that apparent when you put bowl and saucer together. And there was also a small plate with the same pattern.
I don't know anything about this particular manufacturer. But it does seem to have been "tested and approved by the homemakers institute". That certainly sounds pretty vintage don't you think? This little set was $4.99.
Then I found five of these soup/salad bowls.
I love the pink and green combination and pink roses are my personal favorite.
A closer look at the rose design. These are a Homer Laughlin pattern. I paid $4.00 for the five bowls.
Not exactly what I was looking for .... but 16 roses for less than $10 seemed like a pretty good deal! I'll be tablescaping with these soon....but first I've got to find those perfect treasures for a special April Birthday!
See ya!
Love your new acquired dishes! Love them! Can't wait to see your tablescape!
ReplyDeleteI think you could mix and match these for a wonderful look. Imagine a bouquet of pink and white roses in the center of the table...yum.
