It's time for another day of dish drooling over at "Between Naps On The Porch" with Tablescape Thursday. I missed playing with the dishes last week because of my Dad's surgery and rocky recovery. Although, he's still having some issues, I think he's finally making some improvement. This week I found the return to playing with my dishes quite therapeutic (for me!)
Welcome to my "Early Signs of Spring" tablescape.
Here's a place set just for you!
This crocheted cloth and pillar candle and globe is what you would usually find on this table when it's not "tablescaped".
I've put a little faux greenery and tiny flowers around the base to remind me of the first little flowerings of Spring.
The soft colors of Spring are found in these plates I found last year at a local thrift/antique store. Perfect for a Spring brunch don't you think? I loved the octagonal shape of the plates.
The tiny little flowers make me think of the flowers that will soon be appearing on the flowering trees and in the early flower beds. I'm so looking forward to their appearance.
The sweet cups and saucers to match were just recently purchased at the same store, months after the plate purchase ....I kept hesitating to get them, but finally caved. I'm really glad I did now!
Sweet little flowers look cheerful as we anticipate a pretty spring.
A layering of plates and my shell patterned flatware set upon the crocheted cloth. (A gift from a friend years ago)
Some of you may remember that I had found some pink stemware on eBay right before Valentine's Day and I was hoping that they would arrive in time for that tablescape. They were slow coming, but all eight arrived safely! The soft peachy pink carries the blush of Spring.
I didn't even notice until I was setting them on the table that they too, have the octagonal base. What a delightful surprise!
Plain white napkins with my new pink napkin rings from "The Style Sisters". She carries them in pink, blue, white and red. $1.50 each.
These remind me of tiny pink buds ready to burst open as the Spring sunshine warms them.
An overview of the Spring tablescape showcasing the dishes of Springness.
An overview of the same tablescape as I would probably set it with the napkins on top of the plates. This is a small table and can easily look crowded.
Shall we "undress" the place settings?
A backside view of my thrifty Spring dishes and their markings.
This dinner/charger plate is our everyday dishes. I found these several years ago at Goodwill.
I love the sculpted texture of these dishes. I found 10 plates, 6 bowls and 8 mugs for very little.
A backside view of the dish markings.
While this cloth is not octagonal, I thought the straight angles complimented the shape of the dishes well.
A last look at my "longing for Spring" tablescape.
My sideboard is still dressed in Winter Whites. That's pretty appropriate since we're forcasted to have snow tonight.
This pretty platter was another thrifty Goodwill find recently. I think it was around $3. I don't know exactly how old it is, but no chips or cracks. It makes a pretty underplate for my ironstone soup tureen that I found last Summer on eBay.
I think my usually vigilant tablescaping assistant must have found this tablescape sort of boring....oh well. I hope you'll find some pretty tablescapes that don't put you to sleep over at the dish party that Susan hosts every week at "Between Naps On The Porch".
Please forgive me for not being able to comment as much as usual, as Dad's recovery really has me on the run -- things will hopefully get back to normal soon.
See ya!

This is one of the best tablescapes..ever. MY style. I love it. I am always torn between the very delicate like this and the deep reds of the Tuscan style.
