It's time to set the table again for Tablescape Thursday. This week I will issue a warning -- If you don't like pink, then go no further -- because this table is full of it! This table is all about pink, my very favorite color, because this table is set for meeeeeee. It's my birthday on Sunday and I've filled it with lot's of pinkness.
See? You can't say I didn't warn you. I have to say, I don't know when I've ever been as happy about a birthday ....really! Even though it's a milestone (well, I guess officially a halfway point milestone) -- it's a very special one. Because, Mr. Mid-Atlantic is taking me to Greece! We're not leaving exactly on my birthday, but soon! I think he's as excited about it as I am.
Now you know you're invited to my birthday table -- I've set a place just for you!
Roses are the flower for June, and of course, mine are pink! I'll share with you a quote I keep on my computer at work. "We can be dismayed because rose bushes contain thorns or we can be delighted because thorn bushes contain roses." I like that.
Come closer and smell the wonderful rose aroma. Ahhhhh! Don't you love the soft pink roses that look like the edges of each petal were dipped in a darker pink? I do!
See those silver candlesticks? They came from my father-in-laws home. We've been clearing it out since it just sold. These candlesticks were black and tarnished, but they're beautiful and shiny now. Pink candles today. The vase was also from his house. Very old - very heavy.
A look and the layers of dishes, my mis-matched silverplate flatware and pink rose tablecloth.
Let's unlayer the dishes. First a pink rose salad plate. I got twelve of these from ebay last year for a luncheon.
A close look at the roses.
I love these antique napkins I found last year.
Pink glass plates I've had several years.
Also etched with roses!
The white Gibson dishes I got last year for my birthday with a Big Lot's gift certificate from my good friend Jane.
Now look at this sweet treasure. One of my wonderful blogger friends, Karen of "Karen's Korner" just sent me a box filled with doilies and a tablecloth! She's been cleaning out her parent's home and found a trunk filled with things from her mother and grandmother. It was such a sweet surprise that she packed several treasures and sent them to me. I'll be posting on all these lovelies soon. Karen, I'm just overflowing with happiness that you would send me such beautiful linens and precious handmade items from your family. I truly cherish them. Aren't blog friends wonderful? Be sure to visit Karen, she's one sweet lady!
I found this vintage rose garden tablecloth at an antique store last fall.
An overview of the table.
Overview of the roses.
Of course, I've set out my pink goblets.
Love these coasters, just like my grandmother used to have.
She always used these in the Summer when she was serving iced tea. They're perfect for the iced tea spoon after you've stirred your tea.
A tabletop view.
Time to light the candles....
....and enjoy the roses by candlelight! Thanks for joining me for my birthday this week. I'm so glad you could join the celebration! Be sure to check out all the tables set this week over at "Between Naps On The Porch", hosted each week by our delightful sweet Susan.
See ya!
