Vanana no more! ...and a give-away.

Back in 1997 when our son went to college we sold my mini-van and I got a little green Saturn coupe with a sunroof. I was sure that my mini-van mom days were over. I loved that little car (Mr. Mid-Atlantic hated it but he had a Jeep and he was happy if I was happy). Well the little Saturn got old and tired but kept plugging along. In January of 2008 our daughter told us that she was expecting...twins! That was a Monday and on the following Friday my little Saturn died. My mechanic said that he didn't think he could bring her back to life, so it was time for a new car. Daughter had a small Honda. Son-in-law had a pick up truck. Mr. Mid-Atlantic had a pick up truck. We looked at each other and said, "With twins coming, somebody needs a mini-van." And so, I purchased another mini-van. A couple of months ago our daughter and her husband purchased a much bigger car with a third row seat. Last month Mr. Mid-Atlantic paid off my mini-van and said, "Let's give this to son and daughter-in-love for their family and you get what you want." Yipeeee! So after we got back from vacation...I started looking. And Friday I got exactly what I wanted......a.......Guess! No really....I'm not going to tell you...but, I'm a van-nana no more! What do you think I have in my driveway that really makes me smile? I'm going to send the first person who guesses correctly a $10 Starbucks gift card. Here are the rules. You can make one guess a day until Friday. On Friday evening I'll announce the winner. The contest will stay open even if someone guesses correctly -- It will be fun to see what you all come up with. All the names of those who participate will be entered in a random drawing for another $10 Starbucks gift card -- so even wrong guesses will get a chance.

Good Luck and I'm looking forward to finding out what you think I'm driving now!

I'll be announcing the winner on Friday and the twins turn 2 on Saturday!

  1. This bring me to my 1988 Ford Aerostar. It was PERFECT. I had 3 sons, and OH how nice to have the extra seat to put the CONTRASTing kid. The ONE that wasn't cooporating with the group. LOVED that van and it was my middle sons first vehicle when the time came... NO ONE wanted to see it go, it was PART of our family. It never died, but the electric system in it made it "the deadly dessert". We couldn't open the electric windows and the air conditioning didn't work, UGH!!! Being a master gardener made a car NEVER an option. My Mom always would say(AS she looked up in dismay at how HIGH she had to climb to get into my vehicles), "When are you going to get a car, Dear"... and I would ALWAYS say to her, "Never Mom"... I always need room for DIRT, Fertilizer, PLANTS, flowers, and of COURSE the treasure box of china goodies from the flea market... The brand of vehicle never really bothers me as long as it's dependable...At the moment I drive a 1997 Ford Explorer with WELL over 100000(did I put enough zeros there)! and LOVE IT TO PIECES...
I can't imagine what you have in your driveway, BUT I know that whatever it is, it will be the start of some "great adventures" that you will be sharing with us RIGHT HERE! and I really look forward to seeing all those goodies you chariot will bring us...
    Have a great week,
    Donna

  2. Ok, I think you got another Saturn coupe or else a honda accord or something similar. What a thrill for the children to have your van. I know they are loving it. Hugs, Marty

  13. mmmmmm...Maybe a SmartCar? One of those little bitty things would be handy to drive around if you never took it to the grocery store for a big order!
