Tablescape Thursday - April Showers

Tablescape Thursday is one day I just couldn't miss! I always love to see what everyone brings to the table week after week. Thank You Susan for providing us with so much fun and inspiration. This week I decided to be a little silly -- must be Spring fever. I was thinking of my grandgirls and the little rhyme "April Showers bring May flowers"... but on my table this week "April Showers" bring......

...ducks playing in the puddles!

As always, there's a puddle...oops, I mean... a place set just for you!

Here's a closer look at our centerpiece.

My mind started putting this tablescape together when I saw this duck with an umbrella at Cracker Barrel a couple of weeks ago. Isn't it cute? We have a small lake in our subdivision and sometimes when I'm driving through the ducks are waddling around in some of the nearby yards.

Baby ducklings following along behind.

These little ducks have a funny little story. Last Easter I was in a hurry at the craft store looking for a few last minute things for decorating the tables. When I saw a bin of these little yellow feathers I thought "Oh perfect! Easter chicks!" It wasn't until I was actually putting them on the table that I realized they were actually ducklings.....oh well....I just used them anyway.

Pewter mugs for some soup on a cool rainy Spring day. Or perhaps milk for the grandgirls.

Plaid napkins came from Tuesday Morning -- they have blues, greens, and yellows. The bamboo flatware came from Marshall's last Spring. I just put out the smaller forks and spoons for the little ones.

An overview of our rainy day table.

An overview of the centerpiece. The fun blue Easter grass came from Walmart this year.

My top plate is a blue glass salad plate from Walmart for the puddle effect.

Next up is the salad plate from the Big Lot's Gollum dishes. (I bet she wishes she had gotten a commission on those after everyone ran to get a set when she sent out her famous "dish alert" post!)

Last is my pewter dinner/charger plate. I think that I mentioned in my last week's tablescape that I didn't pick any "wedding" china until we had been married for 10 years. What I did pick out was "wedding" pewter. It was 1975....what can I say? I still like it and use it even if it isn't in style anymore!

I love a parade!

Gazing across the tabletop.

Bringing out the tea lights....

...for a little moonlite swim!

Speaking of showers...I'll be hostessing a bridal shower this week-end for my nephew's darling fiance. So next week we'll be going from April showers to bridal showers.

Be sure to visit Susan at "Between Naps On The Porch" for plenty of tabletop inspirations this week.

See ya!
