Foodie Friday - Simple Summer Supper
Foodie Friday is a wonderful place to visit each week to find new recipes and perhaps rediscover a dish that you hadn't even thought about making for a long time. It sure helps with the age old problem of "what can I cook for dinner tonight" - when you feel like you're just plain tired of making the same old thing week after week.
I never get tired of eating fresh vegetables all Summer. Every Saturday between Memorial Day and Labor Day, I make a trip to the local produce stand and this is one of my favorite Summer suppers. A Hanover tomato stuffed with homemade chicken salad, cucumber and onion salad, fresh corn on the cob and Greek stuffed grape leaves (those didn't come from the veggie stand). Nothing fancy - but just plain good! Hope you're enjoying the fresh produce from your local produce stands or perhaps even your own back yard during these waning days of Summer. Soon Fall will arrive and we'll all be savoring the warmth of homemade soups and stews.
Be sure to check out what everybody's cooking up over at the potluck "Foodie Friday" hosted by "Designs By Gollum" -- you're sure to find something good to add to your recipe box.
See ya!

Looks wonderful--I have to go to Charleston for grape leave stuff!! I love veggies too and the corn has been great this year!
ReplyDeleteYour plate looks yummo. All the fresh veggies will soon be gone........:( Enjoy them while you can:)
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing better than enjoying summers' bounty as much as possible these days. I'm already feeling melancholy that it will be over so soon.
ReplyDeleteYour plate looks like our plate..much the same minus the grape leaves. :) Ours comes from our backyard garden and we have the addition of saute squash on our plates too.
ReplyDeleteYour comment about my tablescape really made me smile. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteOur farmer's market is Wednesday and Saturday. I often plan our meals by what I find there and what comes out of my garden. Nothing better!

Hi Martha,
ReplyDeleteYour said your meal's not fancy, but I think it looks absolutely beautiful ... and mouth-wateringly delicious! There's nothing like fresh summer vegetables ... they make the heat and humidity (almost) worth it, don't they?
Thank you for stopping by. I always appreciate your thoughtful comments!
