Tablescape Thursday - Spring!

Once again it's the day of the week all us "dishaholics" love to see what everybody else is dishing out over on Susan's porch ....(between naps of course)!

In the words of The Beatles -- "Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter. Little darling, it seems like years since it's been clear." But after that long winter....

....nothing says "SPRING" like daffodils!

Don't you just love it when the daffodils begin to bloom?

These plates were an eBay find last Spring.

Manufactured by Mikasa....I'm not quite sure how old they are.... from the 60's or 70's I'm guessing.

Napkins were purchased last spring as well -- either Tuesday Morning or Marshall's. All tied up with polka dotted ribbons.

I found these dinner plates at Kroger last year.

These charger/placemat/trays came from Nell Hill's online end of summer/early fall. They came in round or square -- but I just looked last week and they aren't being offered any longer.

My grandmother had real bamboo flatware that she used for breakfast. These are faux, but I still really love using them because they remind me of her. These came from Marshall's awhile back.

I found these green goblets at Goodwill around Christmas a couple of years ago. I've used them a lot -- I should look for more because they only had four -- I would love to find at least 2 more!

While I have daffodils blooming in my yard -- I thought I would leave them there because they look so cheerful. Since I didn't have time to stop by the market, I just used faux ones. I'll use these in a Spring wreath for my front door. They're in a black iron tealight holder I found in a Yankee Candle catalog a couple of months ago. Love that you can use it for tealights, flowers or both!

This was the table I set last year using these same plates after I first got them (and the daffodils were real ones)

Isn't it fun how just a few changes make a whole different look? Which do you prefer?

Be sure to visit Susan at "Between Naps On the Porch" if you love seeing lots of pretty dishes and tablescapes. I look foward to the inspiration I find there week after week!

See ya!

  4. I can see how you are so inspired by the daffodils to set such a pretty spring table. Your plates are darling!!!
It is facinating to me, by just a few changes in our tables we can achieve so many different looks! I think your pretty blue/yellow plaid tablecloth looks gorgeous with the daffodils.
I saw those chargers earlier and did not order them, now I really am sorry I did not. They bring an earthy textural element to your spring inspired table.

  6. Daffodils just make me happy! I don't have any in my yard (I need to fix that) but I did see a hint of red on a tulip this morning:) I love your plates...as for my favorite, I like this year's tablescape the best. I think the tablecloth really adds something, but I do like the fresh flowers better...always...but, I don't blame you for leaving them in the yard!

  8. Martha, what a delightful table! You just have to smile when you see those cheerful daffodils! I also admire your chargers and wish I'd ordered some. Replacements.com says the daffodil pattern was manufactured '74-'76. It's just perfect for a spring table.

  10. Martha, LOVE THIS TABLE!!!
    So refreshing.

It has been a very long winter and we have wintery weather conditions even today.

The daffs are sweet and the color theme heart lifting.

    God bless,

  13. That table is just bursting with springtime! I am so very fond of daffodils, anyway, so I liked it immediately. I really loved it best with the tablecloth. That just looks perfect.

I've seen you use those great chargers. I sure wish they were still on the market. I'd love something like that. I'll keep my eyes open.

  14. I love your table, Martha! It is fun and fresh and charming! Daffodils are some of my favorite flowers, and they remind me of my mother. It is amazing, too, how a few changes can really change a table. I love it both ways, but I'm really loving your cloth with it.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  19. Oh, Martha I adore these plates. And how smart of you to use the candle holder for flowers! The tablecloth makes such a difference in the look from last year. I like this one much more (though both are pretty)

  20. Hi, Martha! What afantastically sunshiny table!!! Daffodils are quintessential spring, and your table really tells the tale well! (Try saying that 5 times fast! :-) Your grandmother would be tickled pink to see your tribute to her memory with the use of that flatware. I use the faux bamboo, too, but it's the memories that count! I really hope you have a peaceful, warm weekend!!!

  21. Hi Martha! What a pretty springy tablescape! I love the idea of the daffodils in the tea light holder! Your plates are lovely! I don't blame you for leaving your daffodils in the yard! One year I cut all of mine when we had snow...and the neighbors still had theirs after it melted! lol Happy weekend!...hugs...Debbie

  24. A very pretty table! So like spring!

  25. Both tables are nice, but tonight I'm liking the simplicity of the placemats on wood. I sold two different sets of daffodil dinner plates on eBay several years ago -- and have kicked myself ever since! So glad you still have yours -- and that you shared them with us!

  26. Hi Martha, I don't think I can choose which I like better--they are both nice. I do love daffodils, but mine are not up yet! Just the green leaves have come up so far. We had snow last weekend! Those plates would make me happy by helping to pretend spring is really here! I saw those chargers on NH blog and debated about buying them. Couldn't decided whether to get the square or round--well, it has been decided for me--they are not available! I will just visit yours. Linda
