Spring Tablescape
I'm sorry this photo is blurry - this is an overview of an early spring tablescape. We're still a few weeks from the "big bloom" here in Virginia, so I don't have any live flowers on this centerpiece.
My white goodwill plate with a pewter salad plate. The blue floral napkins came from Tuesday Morning with white ceramic napkin rings. The pewter goblets were wedding gifts from 33 years ago and the pewter plates I've added to over the years - also started as wedding gifts.
The bluebird platter is a small one. My mother had a much larger one and I regret that it got away from me a few years ago when my dad downsized. I've been looking for another one ever since.
This view of the centerpiece shows my new birdie salt and pepper shakers. I was so excited to find these at Target last Friday. Now I feel like a true blogger! and I've got the birdies to prove it!
This view shows the centerpiece. The base is a frame with blue paper, next a cake plate, then a smaller footed plate, topped with a broken ceramic/china birdhouse -- that baby is heavy! It would take a strong branch to hold this birdhouse.
Here we have a small nest with eggs, and a sweet angel holding two birds.
Now we see a bird on her nest in a teacup. This little birdie is so fat, I don't think she's laid her eggs yet!
A view from above.
This little grasshopper better hide quick! (or he may find himself being served for birdie lunch)
I hope that you've enjoyed your visit. Now be sure to stop by Susan's at Between Naps On The Porch for more Thursday Tablescapes. Thanks so much for stopping by!

ReplyDeletePretty Spring table, Martha! I love the Bluebird platter. That's always been one of my favorite patterns. I don't have any. They are difficult to find.
ReplyDeleteHi Martha and Happy Tablescape Thursday!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to stop by to say thank you for taking a peek at my "Brume de Rose" tablescape and for leaving such a sweet comment! Wow...working at Hallmark for 8 yrs., I'd love that job, although I probably would have spent all my paychecks there! Hehe! I have done a bunch of searching for those dishes and just haven't seen them. They must be rare?
Anyway, I just adore your sweet tablescape with the birds and birdhouses! I love all of the pewter...I don't know why I don't have any! Your centerpiece is a true work of art, my friend! It's so creative and charming!!! I saved the photo to my computer for future reference and inspiration! Love the idea of using a picture frame...and those birdhouses are beautiful!!! Did you make them? Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful table! Come back by anytime...I would love having you!!!
Warmest wishes,
Chari

ReplyDeleteYour table is delightful, and full of marvelous detail ~ the bird theme is one of my favorites. I love the bluebird pattern, too and your new bird salt & pepper shakers are so cute (good find!) Very nice job :)
Thank you for opening your home to us! ~m.
I love it! What a great looking table! And the birds s&p shakers are oh so cute!
ReplyDeleteSmall world isn't it Martha. We must like the same colors. I bought the last two packages of 4 place mats that they had or I would offer to pick some up for you if you wanted them. Your table looks beautiful. I used to have those goblets too when I was first married. Wish I would have saved mine ;( Yours look great.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sue
Your spring table is so fresh! I love it! We have the same napkins. I just picked mine up at Macy's in late February. I haven't used them in a tablescape just yet but you will see them pop up in April. Love the birds. Anything with birds right now is so "IN". Love all the details.

What a pretty little centerpiece!
ReplyDeleteVERY cute...I love the birdhouse and little birdie centerpiece....however grasshoppers totally freak me out! Hey maybe that would be the perfect diet solution...put a grasshopper on the table and I wouldn't be able to eat!
ReplyDeleteHi Martha! What a lovely tablescape! I think that centerpiece you put together is just adorable - how can you possibly think your not talented? (I saw that on your profile) Well, judging from your blog, I think you are extremely talented. So, I will be following you from now on! Stop by for another visit to my blog sometime! Kim

Thanks for coming by my blog & leaving a comment. I see that you indeed have the same plates as me. I wish mine came from GW as they would have been cheaper than buying from JCP, even though I got them on clearance. Then I might not feel so bad that we never use them. I had to laugh at your Target birdie comment. You are definitely a true blogger now. I have them too, but haven't shown them off yet. Mine are a little shy.
ReplyDeleteYour table is a delight! Those blue napkins are gorgeous. The blue bird platter is just a treasure.
ReplyDeleteKate
Adorable tablescape! Love the birds and bird house... and the blue bird plate is charming. It looks so familiar... I think my mother had a piece or two like it. I'll have to check!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty table, thanks! And I love the use of pewter, too.
Cass

Hello Martha...
